OK, I really will have a post or two next week about the progress at the condo. I keep thinking “I just want to get X done before I take pictures.” Next week is my self-imposed deadline and I will take pictures.
We had friends over this week and one person asked what big projects we had coming up. It was so weird to say “Um, nothing?!” I can’t wait to show you how much better things are looking!
But for today I’m going link up with Emily at Chatting at the Sky to share what I’ve been learning. Without further ado, here are five things that I’ve learned this summer…
ONE. Rend Collective is amazing.
I think that I listen to their music every single day. Here’s one of my favorite songs –
TWO. Matt is better than I am at putting together a room.
I recently asked him if he liked these paintings because I wanted to try to do one. He replied “Um, yeah, but I want to think about how the whole room is going to come together so we don’t just have a bunch of stuff we like that doesn’t go well together.” Yeah… I hadn’t gotten that far. There’s a reason that the room he put together himself (the office) is the best-looking in the house. Needless to say, I’m asking him for more and more advice lately.
THREE. I can make a mix CD without “Ice Ice Baby” on it.
There were a few years where it was on every single one. But this week I made a couple of Rend Collective CD’s to send to my Dad without any Vanilla Ice. 🙂 I’m not sure if he’ll be proud or disappointed.
FOUR. Speaking up for what you want is hard, but worth it.
I had to tell my boss that I wanted a promotion next year. Awkward. But worth it. Now, if I can just get up the courage to ask for some more flexibility in working from home….
FIVE. Friends are so important.
I believe that we’ve been making it more of a priority to spend time with friends and it has been so refreshing! As an introvert, it’s easy for me to keep going back to the things I do on my own that are life-giving, but it’s so worth it for me to step outside of my comfort zone and be intentional about spending time with others! On a related note, this article was challenging but very good.
I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend!
A very happy birthday to my sister Bekah on Saturday! I love you! 🙂
