Today I’m kicking off 31 days of writing on a specific topic, inspired by The Nester.
I’ve decided that during October I’m going to be writing about 31 Days of Christmas: plan a little now to enjoy it more later.
I’m going to be honest, seeing the first Christmas decorations in stores starting in September makes me panic a little bit. I don’t like decorating for Christmas until after Thanksgiving, I’m still buying gifts the week (or few days) before Christmas, and I spend too much of December thinking “I wish I had time to…” or “I wish I’d planned better so that we could….”
But here’s the thing…
…I want it to be different.
…I want to have a plan so that I can relax and cherish time with family and friends without worrying about what I’ve left undone.
…most importantly, I want to prepare my heart to celebrate the birth of my Savior, Jesus Christ.
So for those of you who start counting down to Christmas in July…I’m not one of you. I’m sorry. But I want to be a little bit more like you, so will you help me?
And for those of you who wonder what’s wrong with you when you feel crabby the week before Christmas because it’s just not shaping up the way you thought it would be, I’m right there with you. I’m not an expert and I don’t claim to be, but I’m wondering if we can do a few things in October to make December more lovely.
Even though I love Thanksgiving, I’m excited to take 31 days this month to focus exclusively on Christmas and see if we can’t figure out what steps we can take now to prevent losing the wonder in December.
That’s all I’ve got for today. I can’t wait to start this journey! Will you join me?
This is day one. 🙂
There are a lot of us on this 31 days journey, and I can’t wait to see what is in store for all of us!
